The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association (SIEMA) was founded in the year 1952, with a sole aim of representing and protecting the interests of Micro, Small, Medium and Large Scale Engineering Industries of this Region. Most of our members are engaged in the manufacture of

Electric Motors

Submersible Pumpsets
Diesel Engines
Foot Valves etc to cater agricultural sector
Centrifugal and Centripetal Pumps
Textile Machineries, Spares and Parts
Starters & Switches
Air and Borewell Compressor Pumps
Rough Castings, Steel Castings, S.G. Iron Castings and

Auto Components

The main objective of the Association is to spread awareness and provide platform to share knowledge and best practices in Manufacturing. The Association also acts as a forum to represent members’ grievances to the Central & State Government departments and other agencies.

In the year 1930 the first pumps in India was produced in Coimbatore and in 1937 the first motor of our country was produced in Coimbatore.  Production of Monoblocks, domestic pumps followed subsequently.  Coimbatore units are now diversifying into manufacturing of industrial pumps to meet the growing demand in many part of our Country.  Nearly 45% of the Country’s requirements of water lifting pumpsets are being met by Coimbatore units.  Pumpset manufactured in Coimbatore are exported to various countries for the past 25 years.  This is due to quality, reliability and performance achieved by incorporating design changes to suit the site conditions.

Significant achievement of SIEMA is the awareness created among its members regarding producing quality Products.  The total number of BIS Licensees in and around Coimbatore are more than 300 which is the largest at a single place in our Country.  Our Association has close relationship with Bureau of Indian Standards in connection with the formulation of Indian Standards connected with the agricultural pumpsets.  Considering this, BIS, New Delhi has given representations to SIEMA in  various Sectional Committees

The Scientific and Industrial Testing and Research Centre (Si'Tarc) is the out-come of the joint effort of SIEMA and our sister Association CODISSIA.  The setting-up of this Centre for testing Motors, Monoblocks, Pumps and other raw materials.  Si’Tarc has many ambitious plans for the future in the areas of Research, Product Development, Training and Data Centre. Si’Tarc is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Government of India and accredited by NABL

Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association (COINDIA), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed to implement the cluster development for Motor, Pump and Foundry Industry of this region under Industrial Infrastructure up-gradation Scheme (IIUS).  SIEMA is the major promoter of this SPV.

SIEMA received the Best Management Organization (BMO) award initiated by M/s. Foundation for MSME Clusters, New Delhi, with the support of Ministry of MSME, Government of India. The first year 2015 of initiation of the award and SIEMA is the first Association to received the National Level prestigious award.
